| Breaking News |  | Thursday, October 25th, 2007: Fred Cowley Nabs Best Bat Trophy
It was quite a season to remember for Fred Cowley. He was one of the most lethal weapons in the league when he stepped up to the plate. For his fine season the Liberty League announced today that Cowley was the Silver Slugger winner for the year 2007.
The Apollos shortstop bombarded opposing moundsmen with a .298 batting average, 34 doubles, 6 triples, 43 home runs and 102 RBIs while compiling a .397 on-base percentage and scoring 106 runs.
For being named the LL's best batter Cowley will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend.

Rumors circulating around town, say catcher Arthur Van Horn is not happy at all playing in Houston and that the Apollos are actively shopping him around.

| Monday, September 10th, 2007: Cowley Wins LL Player of the Week Prize
The Liberty League has selected its Player of the Week. The honor went to Fred Cowley, shortstop of the Houston Apollos.
In a standout performance, he lit up the league with a .407 average to win the award. Cowley went 11-27 for the week, totaled 3 home runs with 9 RBIs and scored 8 times.
This season Cowley has hit at a .301 clip and produced 93 RBIs, 39 home runs and 92 runs scored.
